The British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia is honored to partner with the Department for International Trade and the Welsh Government for quarterly policy briefings. We are privileged to feature expert speakers offering timely insider knowledge about developments that will influence transatlantic commerce. Please join us for our first virtual quarterly briefing featuring Her Majesty’s Trade Commissioner Antony Phillipson, Jonathan Price, The Chief Economist for the Welsh Government and Ruth Bacigalupo, Head of Services, Welsh Government Trade Policy team. This dynamic roundtable discussion will be moderated by Neil Boyden Tanner, International Markets General Counsel at Cigna and UK-US Government Liaison for the British American Business Council of Greater Philadelphia.

This interactive webinar will include professionals from the international business community. The discussion will focus on the UK-US Free Trade Agreement (FTA), Brexit, and how the pandemic might influence global trade in the short, medium and long terms. Topics will include the mood and reaction of Britons and Americans about the FTA and the evolution of public sentiment; an assessment of the early impact of the pandemic on the FTA; the status of negotiations; major sticking points between the two countries, and how the bilateral talks have intensified; and how free-trade advocates adjust policies and messaging to acknowledge and account for legitimate concerns while maintaining core principles and support. The conversation will also focus on climate change and the Conference of the Parties (COP), the supreme decision-making body of the United Nations Convention.

We look forward to your participation in this timely and interactive conversation. Participants are encouraged to submit questions prior to the meeting.
