Innovating International Education feat. Welsh Minister of Education

Breakfast Discussion featuring Kirsty Williams, Welsh Minister for Education and Skills & Mark Becker, President of Georgia State University

Forget the iPad and Oregon Trail: education has changed. According to McKinsey, by 2030, a decade from now, more than half of all jobs will be automated and machines will do these jobs more efficiently than people.   The challenge is for education to adapt to this new reality.

We must rethink education. Leveraging innovation is key in preparing students for this new world.   Students must not only acquire up-to-date technical and digital skills, but also vital human skills. Leadership, global awareness and emotional intelligence will be the keys to enabling students to thrive in a world which we can only try to predict.

In Wales, where universities enjoy the highest rate of student satisfaction across all of the UK publicly-funded schools, major reforms are reducing class sizes, developing internationalpartnerships, and increasing digital competence and literacystandards.

Join us for a breakfast with the woman leading these reforms in Wales, Minister Kirsty Williams, Welsh Minister for Education and Skills, in conversation with the president of Georgia State University, Mark Becker, as they discuss innovation in education, the role of education in international relations, and how Williams built partnerships and coalitions as an opposition politician.
